Samsung climbs to 11th spot on Interbrand's Best Global Green Brands

Interbrand have released their 4th annual 50 Best Global Green Brands and Samsung moved up to 11th spot from 16th last year. I am actually a bit surprised because the top 4 companies are all car makers. I mean, I thought they would be the most unfriendly to the environment. But anyway, Samsung is really doing great with their environmental campaign. Since the Galaxy Note 3 (I think) the Korean giant have started using recycled materials for their packaging and I don't even have any idea what they do in their factories that gave them the 11th spot.

The Samsung Gear Live

Samsung indirectly unveiled the Samsung Gear Live at Google I/O 2014 that just ended a few minutes ago. This will be Samsung's first and so far only Android Wear running smart watch. Technically, this awesome device (awesome because it runs Android Wear) will be a competitor to Samsung's other Gear line of devices that run on Tizen. Anyway, the Gear Live will be available to order starting June 25 via the Google Play Store.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012) Android 4.4.2 KitKat update arrives in the Philippines

Samsung has finally rolled out the Android 4.4.2 update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2012). This is the tablet's first ever software update after it had 4.1 so it was a very long wait for those who owned one. Earlier today, I got a notification from my N8000 (with mobile connectivity) that an 800MB software update is ready for download. I was sure with that size of  download that it is gonna be the KitKat coming and it did not fail me. There are a lot of things going on with the new software once you have it installed. Aside from a new look and feel it will give your device, it gave the tablet the boost it did not have with 4.1. It feels faster and apps seems to launch faster with 4.4. Multi-window has now been changed from what we previously known from the Note 10.1 to the one that the Galaxy Note 3 has (check photos below). I am sure there are a lot more things with this update, I still need to discover them but for those who have the update already and are looking for the screenshot button? Samsung removed that. Taking a screenshot with the new software will require you either with the S Pen (the S Pen trick) or pressing and holding the Lock and Volume Down buttons. Check the update now and enjoy your even faster Note 10.1 (2012).

The world's first Broadband LTE-A smartphone with WQHD display - Samsung Galaxy S V Broadband LTE-A

Samsung has announced a beefed up Galaxy S 5 in South Korea and will only be sold in their home turf. The phone is dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy S 5 Broadband LTE-A, the world's first. It is only available in South Korea because probably, and I am inclined to believe so, the only country that has a commercially available Broadband LTE-A network, specifically SK Telecom which was also the world's first carrier to provide LTE-A service commercially available to the public. Anyway, the SGS 5 Broadband LTE-A is a next generation smartphone that theoretically gives users triple the speeds of current LTE services (in South Korea that would be around 225mbps). It is also the world's first smartphone to sport a WQHD (2156x1440) Super AMOLED display and now it comes standard with 3GB of RAM unlike it's twin, the SGS 5. The phone will be available in South Korea this summer.

The Samsung Tab S 10.5 - Super AMOLED

Here is the bigger brother of the just announced Samsung Tab S. This is, apparently, the 10.5 inch Tab S announced earlier in New York together with the Tab S 8.4. Both sport Super AMOLED displays which is a first in the tablet category. Just like its little brother, the 10.5-incher sports the same hardware design aesthetics with the Galaxy S 5. That means the rear panel of the device sports dimples. Both tablets will be available too in July in selected markets and should be launched in more regions thereafter. Anyway, the specs.

The Samsung Tab S 8.4 - with Super AMOLED display

Earlier today, Samsung has announced their newest flagship tablet in New York. Dubbed as the Samsung Tab S it is the world's first HD Super AMOLED tablet. The Tab S is, apparently, aimed squarely on the iPad and I think they really got it right now. The Super AMOLED display is what the tablet world really needed for its huge display real estate the said display technology can only do great things for this device category. Super AMOLEDs have been rated the best in the smartphone world so I hope they do too in the tablet world. The tablet will be available in selective markets by July.

Samsung's first Tizen running smartphone, the Samsung Z

Back in June 2, 2014, Samsung has announced the first Tizen OS running smartphone and is dubbed as the Samsung Z. The device unfortunately (I think) got a silent launching. The device is running Tizen 2.2.1 and if you try to look at the device it resembles Samsung's Wave line of devices which ran the Bada platform. The one thing you will notice immediately on this device is that it is made with premium materials, or at least it looks like it. The rear panel of the device looks like it is made of leather but it could be just fauz leather just like the Note 3. Anyway, Samsung is expected to make the device available in Russia in the 3rd quarter of this year and will be launched on other regions thereafter.
