Samsung plans to ship 510 million phones in 2013

The Korean Times has reported that the Korean-phone maker, Samsung, has announced that they plan to ship 510 million phones by 2013. That is surpassing their 2012 total shipment of 420 million devices. Samsung in 2012 has already grabbed the greater chunk of the global market share in both smartphones and feature phones, being the #1 phone/smartphone manufacturer. With that plan of shipping 510 million devices, Samsung said that it will be comprising 390 million as smartphones and 120 million as feature phones. Also, Samsung said that with that number it expects to contribute 29% of global shipment of mobile devices. With the Samsung Galaxy S IV ready to be announced at MWC 2013, this should not be a problem for Samsung. All they really have to do is to keep on spitting out stellar devices in 2013 and this trend will apparently continue.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand

Samsung, before the world ended, announced the Samsung Galaxy Grand. This device, is probably the Korean-based company's last device to be announced for 2012, assuming they won't announce anything else in 2012. The Galaxy Grand, looks like a Galaxy S II (one of those versions in the US) and  runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box. Carrying these things plus the fact that the device is actually a dual-SIM smartphone, the Galaxy Grand is probably a smartphone targeted for the Chinese, Korean, Philippine, and Indian market. But of course expect Samsung to be launching this on other markets aside from those I mentioned since this device also comes in a single-SIM version.

Beautiful on the Outside and the Inside - Innards of the Galaxy Note II

Most, if not all, people will not really bother how their devices look like inside the casing and the screen. What matters most, really, is how the device looks outside. Samsung, released a photo on their Samsung Tomorrow site on how the Galaxy Note II's innards look like. You be the judge, is the Galaxy Note II's innards as pretty as how the phablet looks like from the outside with casing on?

The smartest smartphone just got even smarter - Premium Suite upgrade for the Galaxy S III

Yup! The world's smartest smartphone just got even smarter. I know that the Galaxy Note II is a brilliant device, who wouldn't agree with me on that if it carries all the features you would want in a smartphone that is just smaller than the Note II? Well, Samsung heard you all. The maker of the most brilliant smartphone will be bringing that Premium Suite software onto the Galaxy S III making the S3 even more brilliant that it already is. The Korean-based company posted a demo video about it (part 1). Watch the video and S3 users will definitely be waiting for this.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II surpasses 5 million in global sales

Samsung announced that they have officially sold more than 5 million Galaxy Note IIs globally. So, how did it fair with the first Galaxy Note? Well, the first Galaxy Note sold 5 million units of it in 5 months and the Galaxy Note II did it only in 3 months making it the fastest selling phablet Samsung ever made yet, apparently it is also the most bought phablet and I believe it's the only real phablet out there. But we still need to see how the HTC Droid DNA (J Butterfly) do in the market as it is just making way in the US market. Samsung's official press release is after the break so if you want someone official to say it then read on.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 starts getting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in Farnce

According to SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 WiFi (GT-P3110)! The OTA-only update has only been started in France, but if you own one of these tablets, there is no harm in checking of it is available for you already. If you are not from France, a comment on this post saying that you got the update is appreciated. For those who are in France, the update is only administered OTA (over the air), which means you won't get it via Samsung Kies. So connect to a good WiFi hotspot and start downloadin your Jelly Bean goodness! Cheers!

The Samsung Galaxy Note II's real competition the HTC Droid DNA (Comparison)

Well, what do we have here? Forget about LG's attempt in taking a bit of Samsung's phablet market with their LG Optimus Vu (that was lame), this is the real competition that the Galaxy Note line of devices from Sammy has ever faced. HTC already announced this device in Japan but yesterday, Verizon announced it and dubbed it as the HTC Droid DNA. It is apparently, the smartphone with the world's largest screen resolution on it. It sports a 1080p HD (1920x1090) native resolution which equates to a 441 pixels per inch density. That, alone makes the Galaxy Note II cry for help. But, fret not, the Galaxy Note II still has some tricks up its sleeves.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is the most popular smartphone in Q3 of 2012

After getting list after list of being the "best smartphone of the year", the Samsung Galaxy S III, yet again, made it to the top by bumping the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 shipments in Q3 of 2012. According to Strategic Analytics, the most popular smartphone for the 3rd quarter of this year is Samsung's Android flagship smartphone. With that said, the statistics company confirms that the Galaxy S III has been shipped to more customers more than it's nearest rival, Apple's iPhone 4S. The real challenge for the Galaxy S III, I believe, is will it be able to maintain this position in Q4 where the real sales and shipment figures of the iPhone 5 will be revealed.

comScore releases Q3 US mobile subscriber share report - Samsung leads the pack

This does not come as a surprise actually, because it has been years that Samsung has been leading the US market for mobile phones (which includes smartphones and non-smartphones). comScore released their quarterly Mobile Phone Report for the 3rd quarter of this year and, guess what? Samsung leads the pack with a 26% market share in the US for mobile phone including smartphones.

3 million Galaxy Notes sold and 30 million Galaxy S IIIs sold!

The two babies of Samsung, the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note II, has made records again. Samsung's fastest selling Galaxy S device ever has already made it to the 30 million units sold mark while the mos powerful mobile device ever has already sold 3 million units, considering that it was only available in the market within a month. It's not really a surprise the the Galaxy S III is selling good because the ever since the launch of the first Galaxy S, it has been the most popular Android device ever, Samsung just made a new record with the SGS III.

[Update] Samsung Galaxy Premier technical specifications

According to blog posts and reports, Samsung has officially announced this device. But it looks like it will only be available in a market where Samsung rules, in Russia (well, it will be available first in Ukraine). The Samsung Galaxy Premier, is a completely new Android superphone. It may seem to have the Galaxy S III look on it, but personally? It does not look like an SGS III for me. Anyway, according to SammyHub, the Galaxy Premier will be available in Ukraine by next month and I hope that the Korean-giant will be launching this device globally too.

Update: Samsung has finally released the official press release for this device and it said that the Galaxy Premier will be launched not only in Russia (it will still be launched there first) but also in Southeast Asia, China, and of course in South Korea. I have also changed some errors on the device's specs so do check it out.

Samsung made the tablet with the highest screen resolution ever but the screen is not Samsung's - Google Nexus 10

Even Sandy can't stop Google from unveiling to the world the tablet with the highest screen resolution. Google and Samsung announced the Nexus 10, a 10-incher tablet that runs on the latest and newest version of Android, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. According to the official Android Blog, the "Nexus 10 is the highest resolution tablet on the planet with a 10.055" display at 2560-by-1600 (300ppi)". And guess what, it is! I don't like to do this, seriously I don't, but to give you an idea, think of the iPad 3 or 4 which both sport LG's IPS display technology (Retina display, in Apple's language), has a screen resolution of 2048x1536 and a pixel density of 264ppi. The Nexus 10 has the higher resolution, not only does it sport a bigger screen, it also has the higher pixel density compared to the iPad, at 300ppi.

Samsung retains crown as the the largest smartphone marker in the world! 56.3 million smartphones shipped in Q3 twice as Apple did!

The South Korean powerhouse, according to Reuters, is still the world's number 1 smartphone maker. And, even if I do not have any statistics to support what I am to say right now, is still the world's number 1 mobile phone maker. Aha moment, isn't it? Both Samsung and Apple have released their Q4 2012 results while Samsung only posted their Q3 2012 results which leaves more room for the numbers from both the Galaxy Note II and the Galaxy S III's sales.

The Samsung Galaxy S III starts receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update

The world's greatest smartphone that has ever landed on Earth starts receiving the world's greatest Mobile platform to date. Yup! The Samsung Galaxy S III has started receiving its well deserved Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. And if I am not wrong, Samsung has delivered what it has promised. This, by the way, comes via a report by Clove UK that one of their customers has received the said update. The update only applies (as of now) to those Galaxy S IIIs that were bought unlocked and not via a carrier and only to the international version of the superphone. Android 4.1 JB is being distributed via OTA (Over-The-Air) or by tethering your device to a PC or Mac and by running Samsung Kies. Cheers SGS III users!

Samsung S Pebble launched in South Korea

Samsung has officially launched the small music player they announced together with the Galaxy S III during MWC 2012. The Samsung S Pebble is now available in South Korea with a price tag of 79,000 Korean Won. The S Pebble, if you cannot remember it anymore, can last you up to 17hrs of music playback time.  It sports a 4GB storage for all your music collection. Apparently, the device will work beautifully if you own a Galaxy S III which the S Pebble is basically built for.

Boieng and Samsung become close friends

What is up? It's been a while since I posted here so I'll post now. Samsung and Boeing are now closer friends! Wonder what Samsung Electronics and an aerospace company got to do together? According to Samsung Tomorrow, the two companies have joined hands to research and develop technologies that will enhance the display and wireless technologies for passenger aircrafts. Neat isn't it? The R&D team up is made with the focus on creating technologies for these displays and wireless networking stuff to make them light weight and even more energy efficient, needing lesser power but still keeping the quality of it all.

The Samsung Galaxy S III receives the Carbon Trust Standard certification

Two Samsung Android smartphones have been given a distinct award by the Carbon Trust Standard. These Samsung devices are the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Samsung Galaxy Ace Duo. These two devices were given by the UK-based Carbon Trust Certification to PAS 2050 which is the global standard for measuring the greenhouse gas emissions directly or indirectly made by the product. That means from the production up to the point where the device is already bought and used by a user.

Samsung USA to release the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to all the Galaxy S III in the USA "in the coming months"

In the US, Samsung has officially announced that all the variants of the Galaxy S III will be receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update before the end of this year. In their official presser, Samsung actually said that the update will be released "in the coming months". Since the Galaxy S III is being offered in the USA via 5 US carriers, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular, specific dates will be announced by these carriers (of course they need to add a bit of their own touches to the software before they send it out to customers). And like most, if not all, updates in the USA via a carrier, it will be administered via OTA. But the update should also be available via Samsung Kies, by manually downloading it and tethering your Galaxy S III to a PC or Mac. Read on Samsung's official presser to get the details on what to expect from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, aside from it's totally beefed up features and an enhanced TouchWiz UI.

Samsung Series 9 13.3 & 15 technical specifications

And this is, personally, Samsung's cream of the crop when it comes to their line of laptops. The design plus the specs on these devices are just stunning perfect for business use and personal use. The Series 9 notebook has been changed in terms of materials used and the first Series 9 announced back in 2010 was probably the best because it used titanium as it's rear panel.  But anyway, this is still a nice notebook and it still carries that design Samsung just upgraded to an put Windows 8 on it.

Samsung Series 7 Gamer technical specifications

These are the two Gaming version of the Samsung Series 7 Notebook, simply dubbed as the Series 7 Gamer. Both are called the same but they differ in specifications. One, sporting the yellow livery, is priced a bit lower than the other one. The black liveried version of the gaming laptop, according to the specs sheet,  have more RAM into it and mostly everything else is the same with the yellow one. Anyway, the specs.

Samsung Series 7 Notebook technical specifications

Almost the cream of the crop among the Samsung Series Notebooks but this, personally, is not really the best that Samsung can come up with. There is still one more notebook reserved for the top spot. This is the Samsung Series 7 Notebook (because it has a Gaming version). It might not take the top spot for me as being the best Samsung Laptop out there, but surely the specs of this device can compete with any MacBook Pros. Anyway, head after the break for its specs.

Samsung Series 3 15.6 technical specifications

Here's the Samsung Series 3 15.6. This is a notebook that packs lesser specs than those of the Series 5s. Of course, with that, it means that this notebook is more affordable too. The device is available in two versions. You can either get it with an Intel Pentium processor or an Intel Core i3 processor and of course, the one with the i3 core will be the one more expensive but you'll get more computing power out from it's quad-core CPU.

Samsung Series 5 2012 notebook technical specifications

These notebooks were not announced, or did I miss it, by Samsung but they just went up on Samsung US' website. Anyway, these are Samsung's 2012 notebooks, there are 2 other models aside from these and I will be posting about them too. Both of these Series 5 variants run on Windows 8 64-bit on both notebooks. They also have almost the same specs, but of course one is smaller than the other. So head after the break to check their specs.

Samsung Galaxy S III Mini technical specifications

Forget about the rumors and leaks, Samsung, as promised, has made the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini official! It's the same Galaxy S III-ness in it but smaller. The device sports a 4" display which is 0.8" smaller than that of it's big brother. As much as I would have wanted the SGS III Mini to have, it does not feature those cool and neat stuff the SGS III has. It does not have Pop Up Play, Smart Stay, and all the other software goodness the SGS III has and have been loved for. Anyway, the SGS III Mini should still be able to do what it is made to do. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, for one, and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. Samsung's official press release did not mention anything about the availability and the price of the device. So, we will just have to wait when that happens because price comes together with it's per-country launching.

The Samsung Galaxy Camera infograph

Samsung Mobile released an inforgaph about the things you can do with the revolutionary Samsung Galaxy Camera. That is the camera that runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and allows you to connect not only to a WiFi hotspot but also via 3G and 4G. Head after the break to check out this infograph.

4 lists down: T3's 2012 Phone of the year is the Samsung Galaxy S III

This is the award that I was talking about when I posted about TechRadar's own list of the best smartphones for 2012. The T3 Awards, the award or that list that I really look forward to each year to check which device is, for them, the best. After 3 lists, the Samsung Galaxy S III is, yet again, #1 and is T3's best Phones for 2012. Last year, T3's best phone for 2011 is the device that the Galaxy S III succeeds, the Galaxy S II. So, for two years now, Samsung has been ruling T3. Hope that Samsung can keep the momentum when 2013 comes and when they unveil the Galaxy S IV. Cheers!

Tech Radar names the Samsung Galaxy S III as the best smartphone in 2012 the Galaxy Note II takes top 4

5 months ago, Samsung unveiled its latest smartphone masterpiece, the Galaxy S III. 5 months after and even after the iPhone 5 was announced, the smartphone still reigns as the best smartphone for the year. It is T-Mobile USA's best selling smartphone in the company's history and it has been chosen by the Mobile Choice Consumers Awards as #1 too. PhoneDog made a ranking of smartphones voted by consumers and who reigns there? What else, but the Samsung Galaxy S III. It kind of went short in the Editor's choice behind the iPhone 5. Anyway, 3 lists down, I am excited for T3 to release their annual best smartphone list and see which device will reign the top podium.

Samsung Galaxy Music technical specifications

Samsung announced the Samsung Galaxy Music. A smartphone that's small and has music in its heart.. The Galaxy Music has a brother announced along with it, the Galaxy Music Duos. And following Samsung's naming style, the Galaxy Music Duos, apparently, supports two SIMs. No word yet on when and where it will be launched but this will be like the Galaxy Y, which was launched all over the globe. The Galaxy Music will also be launched, according to my senses, within October or by November, just before the Holidays. Anyway, it's an Android device sporting that huge speakers and features SRS Surround Sound technology in it.

South Korea gets the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S III

In Samsung's home turf, the world's #1 phone maker have started rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to the Samsung Galaxy S III. According to SammyHub, the update will initially be available only for the 3G version of the device but will eventually be rolled out to the 4G version including the Galaxy Note II. Base on SammyHub's post, the update will be administered via wired connection to a PC or MAC using the Samsung Kies software. For those who are in South Korea, you can also update your devices by going to the nearest Samsung Digital Plaza or any Samsung Mobile Shop.

Samsung ATIV Smart PC tech specs

This is the little brother of the Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro, which is a Windows 8 laptop with a bit less of beef inside it when compared to the PC Pro. Nonetheless, the ATIV Smart PC still is a full-pledge laptop/tablet just like it's bigger brother.

It's a device with all the features of a fully-working and a full-pledged camera but it can also connect to the internet not only via WiFi but through 4G LTE connectivity. This, probably is the only Camera in the world that can send upload your photos from it via a network carrier.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is T-Mobile USA's best selling smartphone ever!

Hey Samsung fans! there's some very good news from T-Mobile USA! The carrier, which is the 4th largest in the country has announced that their all-time best selling smartphone ever is the Samsung Galaxy S III! Of course, the superphone has all the reasons why it can be the fastest selling device over a carrier. The question is, will it do the same over at the other 3 carriers in the US? Will it have the same hotcake like selling record over at Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T? With the iPhone 5, that'd be difficult but at least the superphone made a dent over at T-Mobile.

Smart and Globe puts the Galaxy Note II on pre-order

The top two carriers (as if there are any other carriers in the Philippines) have put the Samsung Galaxy note II up for pre-order so that you guys can be the first to own the most powerful mobile device in the world! Smart announced this officially via their Facebook Page and same goes to Globe.

Mobile Choice Consumers Awards 2012 names the Samsung Galaxy S III as top smartphone

The Mobile Choice Consumers Awards 2012 has awarded the best smartphone to the, what else? the Samsung Galaxy S III! In the world of tablets, do we really need to ask? Apparently, the best tablet went to Apple's iPad. The runner up of the Galaxy S III is the iPhone 4S, apparently, the iPhone 5 will have to do with 2013 for a chance to get this award. The 3rd spot goes to HTC's offering, the HTC One X. Anyway, this is a great boost for the Korean brand because, I believe this is the first time that their Android flagship offering actually beat Apple's. But this is just one of the many award giving organizations or bodies out there. T3 might have a different #1 holder when they release their own list. Samsung fans, let's just enjoy this! For those who owns a Galaxy S III you have the best smartphone in town.

Samsung Kies gets updated to ver. 2.5.0.12094_27

Samsung has released an updated version of Samsung Kies which brings the software up to version 2.5.0.12094_27. The update brings in revamping duties to the software and of course bug fixes here and there. For those who have Samsung Kies in their PCs or Macs when you run the app, it should prompt you of an update. For those who do not have Kies, you can download it from any Samsung support page. Here's a link to the Samsung USA website.

Samsung reports Q3 record profit in 2012 at $7.3 billion

Samsung in the 3rd quarter of 2012 has reported an all time high profit at $7.3 billion. According to a report by Reuters, Samsung Electronics (the highest earning arm of Samsung Group) earned this profit thanks to the success of the Galaxy S III. Most of you might have already known that Apple has cut it's dependency from Samsung by slashing it's orders of parts from the Korean giant. Regardless of that fact, the sales of the Samsung Galaxy S III somehow offsets that lesser supply revenue. Remember that the SGS III has sold 20 million units in record time, making it the fastest selling Galaxy device Samsung has ever made. Anyway, it is expected that Samsung Electronics will profit by this year up to $25 billion which sounds good for the company.

Samsung among top 10 most valuable brands in the world according to Interbrand

Interbrand has released their 2012 Best Global Brands and for the first time in Samsung history it has entered into the top 10. Samsung is the 9th most valuable brand behind Intel. The list goes on and on but we will just focus on the top 10, where the cream of the crop dwells. The company that sits on top? Coca Cola, yup the beverage maker is the world's most valuable brand. It;s not a surprise since the company has consistently done that for 13 years now. Apple sits pretty in 2nd.

Samsung Group makes Ayala Group look like a baby - Why Am I such a Samsung fan

I was not a Samsung fan prior to March of 2010 but something happened during that time that made me fall in love with the Korean conglomerate (not just its electronics hand of the company). So what happened in March, 2010? Well, they were officially entering an almost monopolized market, the smartphone market. It was not totally a monopoly but way back then when you think of a smartphone what would come out from your mind? BlackBerries and the iPhone right? Samsung Electronics announced their first Android Flagship smartphone dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy S, which until now has become a household name. Who does not know what an iPhone is? Same goes to the Galaxy S, who does not know what a Galaxy S is?
