After getting list after list of being the "best smartphone of the year", the Samsung Galaxy S III, yet again, made it to the top by bumping the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 shipments in Q3 of 2012. According to Strategic Analytics, the most popular smartphone for the 3rd quarter of this year is Samsung's Android flagship smartphone. With that said, the statistics company confirms that the Galaxy S III has been shipped to more customers more than it's nearest rival, Apple's iPhone 4S. The real challenge for the Galaxy S III, I believe, is will it be able to maintain this position in Q4 where the real sales and shipment figures of the iPhone 5 will be revealed.
In Q3 of 2012, 18 million Galaxy S IIIs were shipped that is almost 2 million more than what the iPhone 4S did. If you remember, Samsung has officially reported that the Korean giant has sold 30 million units of SGS IIIs globally, so basically, Strategic Analytics' results is simply showing shipments in Q3. If you probably include the month of October in the counting, the figure would be 30 million. But anyway, regardless of that, still the Samsung Galaxy S III FINALLY and officially ahead of Apple's iPhone.
