Samsung Group makes Ayala Group look like a baby - Why Am I such a Samsung fan

I was not a Samsung fan prior to March of 2010 but something happened during that time that made me fall in love with the Korean conglomerate (not just its electronics hand of the company). So what happened in March, 2010? Well, they were officially entering an almost monopolized market, the smartphone market. It was not totally a monopoly but way back then when you think of a smartphone what would come out from your mind? BlackBerries and the iPhone right? Samsung Electronics announced their first Android Flagship smartphone dubbed as the Samsung Galaxy S, which until now has become a household name. Who does not know what an iPhone is? Same goes to the Galaxy S, who does not know what a Galaxy S is?

There it is, the smartphone that started it all, the smartphone that rattled the whole smartphone industry. Yup it did, with all the lawsuits against it and the company? It did, by all means it did. This device sparked the Samsung in me. I know it is not the best smartphone you can buy the time it was launched but it was there and it was Samsung's fastest selling smartphone, selling more than 30 million units. Apparently, the iPhone 4 stole everything. It was and still is a stellar device but Samsung simply won't let that happen forever. Hence, the Samsung Galaxy S II and of course the Galaxy S III.

These devices (including the Galaxy S I) were the precursor to what Samsung is right now. If my memory serves me right, Samsung in 2010 only enjoyed being in 4th as the largest mobile phone and smartphone maker being behind Nokia, Apple, and RIM. HTC back then was even a strong contender and was actually the king of the Android platform. I praised HTC back then but  it was cut short.

I am a fan of Formula One, the first and the only driver I am a fan of today is Kimi Raikkonen. He wasn't really that famous back then but eventually with hard work and pure talent he won his first F1 Driver's Championship title with Ferrari in the 2007 Season at the last race in Brazil. I can say that I have that thing in rooting for people, brands or companies that are not really the best at first. I kind of like to see them grow and be number 1. That is why I love Samsung because they were nobody back then. No one in this world likes a Samsung cellphone prior to the conception of Android. Samsung was almost always related to appliances. But today, it's different.

Samsung's 2012 devices
Samsung currently enjoys being the number 1 mobile phone maker in the world beating Nokia from the top spot it has been enjoying for almost a decade or so. Also, Samsung is the world's largest smartphone maker, leaving Apple and RIM behind.

Lawsuits about design patents will never make me turn my back on the Korean-company, simply because design is subjective. One might see the Galaxy S I copying the iPhone 3GS and one might not see it that way. Regardless of Samsung being asked to pay the company it has supplied millions of parts to in the amount of over a billion dollars, Samsung remains a force to be reckoned with in the mobile industry and all the other industries that the conglomerate has a dent on.

Samsung might not be the world's largest company in terms of market capitalization and amount of money that it has in the bank, but Samsung holds the record for being the world's largest company and the company with the world's largest revenue per year. To quote an article I have read back then, "If Samsung (the conglomerate) is a country, it would be the world's 35th largest economy ahead of Argentina."

I actually like all the patent trolling and the bullying that other companies are doing to Samsung. Samsung in itself can still hold its head up high by simply reminding itself that these companies are the companies that they supply RAMs, Processors, Touchscreen display, and SSDs to.

All a Samsung fan has to remember, is that, when Samsung stops to exist and stops supplying parts, it might not really cripple the industry or the company they are supplying, but they will definitely be worried. In reverse, if companies stop to exist, Samsung does not even have to worry. Because, apparently, Samsung is  becoming a more self-sufficient company. To anyone who buys a Samsung Galaxy S II/III or the Galaxy Note 2, you know that more than 50% of that is Samsung.

Anyway, I'll end this post here. There are more reasons why I am a fan of Samsung. I will end this post by posing photos of everything Samsung has touched, built, made, and whatnot. Cheers!

Samsung Semiconductors - Solid State Drives, RAMs, SD Cards,  SoCs, to name a few
And I think the last and certainly not the least hand of the Samsung Group, is Samsung C&T Trading and Investment. This is the branch of Samsung Group that started it all.

So, I'll say this again, if you are a Samsung fan, the company gives you all the reason to be a proud fan.

Here's a short video by CNET UK, about a summary of Samsung's history:
